The Dream

In The Interpretation of Dreams, Freud describes a dream as the (disguised) fulfillment of a (repressed) wish. So I went as a dream for Halloween:





"Mom" is of course the repressed wish. If you look closely, you can see the padlock on my fly, which is the repression.

The fulfillment is "Frederick," on the back of my shirt. Frederick is the name of a very fine, expensive wine, named after a very handsome quarterback from the beginning of the nineteenth century. You can interpret the fulfillment either as the wine or the quarterback.




The fulfillment is disguised by the glasses.

And the cigar--well, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
