Which movie was Puig talking about?

In chapter III Toto describes a Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers film (page 30 in my book). While he doesn’t explicitly say the name of the musical, my guess is that it was The Story of Irene and Vernon Castle (1939). I found it helpful and interesting to see the clip Puig refers to and thought I would share it with the class.

Here is the sad ending Toto refers to where “Fred Astaire dies in the war in the crashed airplane and she’s waiting for him but be doesn’t come…And then she sees her and him come out transparent…(Puig, 30)”
